CHOOSING A TORQ-E BOARD
With so many hoverboards now available on the market, we know it can be very confusing to decide who to buy from and which board is right for you. So, we will highlight some of the main differences between the boards and common questions we get asked to help you decide. If you do still need some advice, please feel free to contact us and we can offer our recommendations of which Torq-e board would be best suited to you or your family. WHAT TORQ-E BOARDS DO WE OFFER?
- TQ-6 – the most advanced 6.5” hoverboard available on the market; with an auto self-leveling feature, Samsung 36V battery, key fob, carry bag and LED lights over the wheel arches
- TQ-X8 –the best hoverboard to take on your next adventure; it can accommodate a greater range of terrains, making it a great all-round board. It also features a waterproof rating of IP54.
- TQ-10 – the biggest, yet most versatile, board available. This 10” board will allow you to explore steeper and rougher terrains, and has our greatest weight limit at 120kg but, continues to accommodate for lighter riders too with the hypersensitive sensors.

For beginners or younger children, we would recommend the TQ-6 as these boards are great on all flat surfaces. When you learn to ride a hoverboard, you will want to be travelling on flat surfaces.
If you are looking to take your board on an adventure, we would recommend the all-terrain TQ-X8 or TQ-10. However, do make sure that any surface is dry, and grass is short, as any water damage will void the warranty. The larger wheels are better for more uneven surfaces as they cover more surface area so, make it slightly easier to balance.
The TQ-6 has a maximum user weight of 100kg (15 stone 8 lbs) so, if you are heavier than this, we would recommend a board with larger wheels.
RIDER WEIGHTS – MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM
All our boards are controlled by pressure sensors under the footpads so, we recommend the user is at least 30kg because, although they are very sensitive, the user does need to be heavy enough to apply enough pressure to the pads for the board to move. Sometimes, if the user is lighter than the recommended weight, the board may judder/vibrate as the sensors get confused.
The maximum recommended weight limit of these boards is 100kg for the 6.5” board, and 120kg for the TQ-X8 and TQ-10. We would always recommend children under 14 are supervised by an adult.
Our TQ-6 and TQ-X8 have solid rubber tyres, which are very sturdy and perform well on flat surfaces. Also, they can never be punctured.
The TQ-10 has inflatable tyres, which allow riders to use the board across different terrains. They are more flexible, absorb shocks from uneven surfaces and create a slightly smoother ride.
8 upwards – TQ-6
10 upwards – TQ-X8 & TQ-10
For children aged 14 and under, we would recommend they have adult supervision while riding.
The maximum speed of the boards is 15 km/h. The maximum speed can vary depending on the user weight and gradient of travel.
LED lights – All our Torq-e boards have LED lights but, where they are positioned, depends on the model. The TQ-6 has LED headlights and lights on top of the wheel arches, the TQ-X8 has LED headlights and the TQ-10 has head and strip lights – so, it’s a different experience on each board.
Carry bag – All our Torq-e boards come with a free carry bag.
Key fob – The TQ-6 and TQ-X8 boards all have a key fob included, which can switch your board into standby mode remotely.
Bluetooth – All of our boards have Bluetooth so, you can pair your device and play your favourite music whilst riding.
App – The TQ-10 has a free app available to download so, you can see your rider statistics like speed, power, and change the mode from beginner to sport.
The most common question we get asked is about the safety of our boards, which we completely understand, due to the negative stories that have previously surrounded hoverboards. However, with a 100% safety record, we can guarantee that our Torq-e boards will give you peace of mind. Some of the boards are fitted with 36V Samsung batteries and some models with our own brand of reliable, high quality 36V batteries; this will be clearly stated in the description of the model. All the batteries we use are fully-tested and pass UK and European regulations. The battery and charger have a safety cut-off feature to stop overcharging. We have safety certificates for all the batteries and chargers that we use and can be provided if requested.
